Ahmedabad, India – The 11th Asian Aquatics Championships kicked off with the Indian water polo teams facing tough losses on opening day, falling to Singapore in both the men’s and women’s matches. The competition unfolded at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, where fans cheered for action in water polo and artistic swimming.
India vs. Singapore in Men’s Group B
Singapore won 20‑8. The host squad seized an early lead, while a flurry of turnovers and fouls let Singapore take control. Singapore’s captain Rajandra Sanjiv and teammate See Tien‑Ee each scored four goals. Goh Wen Zhe added three, and other Singapore players contributed two and one goals. India’s top scorers were Sarang Ravindra and Praveen Gopinathan with two goals each, and four other Indian players added one goal apiece.
India vs. Singapore in Women’s Group A
Singapore again dominated, winning 23‑10. Yap Jingxuan lit up the match with seven goals. Koh Ting, Lee Xuan, and Koh Xiao each scored four, while Tio Ji added three. Captain Yeo Zhi Min chipped in one goal. India’s best performers were Krisha Purokatastha with three goals, followed by Kripa Ranichithra with two and several teammates adding one each.

Medals in Artistic Swimming
Japanese and Kazakh athletes captured medals. Kazakhstan’s Viktor Druzin won gold in Men’s Solo Technical (score 228.1708). In Women’s Solo Technical, Kazakhstan’s Karina Magrupova took gold (240.1600). The event also featured top performances from athletes in Japan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
