Lucknow Super Giants have hired former Australia all‑rounder Tom Moody as their new global director of cricket, preparing the team for the 19th edition of the IPL. The club tweeted, “Experience. Vision. Leadership. Welcome aboard the Super Giants Universe, Tom Moody!” to announce the move.
Moody joins already‑listed staff, which includes ex‑Australia striker Justin Langer as head coach and former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson as a strategic adviser. The 60‑year‑old Moody has a long IPL track record – he guided Sunrisers Hyderabad to a title in 2016, returned as director of cricket in 2021, then stepped up as head coach before leaving LSG in 2022 when Brian Lara took over.
In the 2025 IPL season, Moody will likely replace former India fast bowler‑turned‑coach Zaheer Khan, who had been allocated a mentorship role for LSG a year after the team ended a partnership with a former India pitching guru.
Bharat Arun had been busy coaching LSG’s bowlers, and sources say Carl Crowe has joined the franchise as a spin bowling specialist. The Super Giants showed early promise, making the IPL playoffs in their first two seasons in 2022 and 2023. However, they slipped out of knockout contention the following two seasons and finished seventh in 2025 – a repeat of their 2024 finish and a step down from their third‑place spots in 2022 and 2023.
With Rishabh Pant leading the batting lineup, the team looks to rebuild momentum as they head into the next IPL season.
