New Delhi – Two seasoned Indian marksmen, Ashi Chouksey and Anjum Moudgil, slipped just shy of the final in the women’s 50‑m rifle 3‑positions at the ISSF World Championships 2025. They finished 15th and 17th in the qualification round held on the Olympic Shooting Range in Cairo, Egypt. Norway’s Jeanette Hegg Duestad stole the spotlight, winning the gold with a score of 465.8 in the final. The silver went to 17‑year‑old Swiss shooter Emely Jaeggi, who matched a junior world record, while Great Britain’s Seonaid McIntosh took bronze.
India remained a clear second on the medal table, trailing China’s eight gold medals and 15 total medals. The country collected three golds, five silvers, and three bronzes overall. In the women’s 3‑positions, Ashi led India with an impressive 588‑26×, only one point off eighth place. Anjum followed with 587‑23×, and teammate Sift Kaur Samra ended 48th with 580‑28×.
Duestad’s dominant form earned her a second world‑championship gold this season. Jaeggi’s 465.3 landed her silver, and her sister Vivien Joy Jaeggi finished fourth. McIntosh, returning after a year off, delivered a solid 454.6 to clinch bronze.
Looking ahead, Indian shooters Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rahi Sarnobat will compete tomorrow in the precision stage of the 25‑m Sports Pistol event.
