It was god’s script, I would’ve played one more Test if it was there: Sirj on England tour

Mohammed Siraj talked about the game‑changing moments that helped India win the final Test against England and pull the series level at 2‑2. The 31‑year‑old fast bowler said he felt ready to bowl even in a sixth match, showing his confidence and fitness.

During the Oval Test, Shubman Gill asked Siraj how his body was feeling. “I’m in perfect shape,” Siraj replied. Gill then told him he was the main bowler, “just like Bumrah.” Siraj said he was 100 % fit and ready to give everything. He noted he didn’t feel tired, just in the “zone” and knew he needed to play.

Siraj’s performance was the highlight of the series. He took 23 wickets in the five matches – the most by anyone – including nine in the final Test. With the usual pace star Jasprit Bumrah rested, Siraj stepped up as the lead bowler and kept the English batsmen under pressure.

After taking a catch of Harry Brook on day four – an incident that drew criticism – Siraj answered back on the field. He bowled a masterful spell on the final day, driving India to a decisive victory that secured the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy.

In talking about his nerves and focus, Siraj said he woke up early, set a mental plan, and let the ball flow. “If God wrote a script, it was for me to be the hero,” he added, reflecting on his belief that the game was in his hands.

The win in the final Test was a team effort, but Siraj’s wickets and relentlessness were key to sealing an impressive 2‑2 draw for India.
