Jaipur, Dec 3 (LatestNewsX) – On the second day of the Jaipur Open 2025, a one‑crore tournament held at Rambagh Golf Club, Kushal Singh shot a spectacular seven‑under‑63 to pull ahead. The Gurugram native (64‑63) had been mounting a streak of good form since his runner‑up spot in the PGTI NexGen event in Bhubaneswar last month. With 13‑under‑127 halfway, he edged out his overnight tie for second and secured a one‑shot lead.
PGTI Order of Merit frontrunner Yuvraj Sandhu (65‑63) also posted a 63, putting him back in second place at 12‑under‑128 and moving him four places up from the previous day.
Veer Ahlawat, who won the 2024 PGTI ranking, delivered a low round of eight‑under‑62 – a flawless day that lifted him to a joint third spot at 11‑under‑129, nine places ahead of his previous standing. He wasn’t alone: Ravi Kumar also joined the joint third position after a bogey‑free 63 that climbed him six ranks.
The early leader, Manoj S., fell to a tie for 11th after recording a 72, landing him five‑under‑135.
The host city sent two professionals to the cut. Prakhar Asawa scored two‑under‑138, and Hemendra Choudhary finished at one‑under‑139, earning a tie‑23rd and tie‑34th respectively. The cut was set at even‑par 140, leaving 54 players to contest the money rounds.
Re‑establishing his rhythm, Kushal continued his strong opening round with another brilliant 63 on day two. The 31‑year‑old has already racked up a top‑10, a top‑20, and a top‑30 finish in his last three PGTI events, steadily climbing the rankings to 61st in the Order of Merit.
After a slow start on the second day – he parred the first five holes before a bogey on the sixth – Kushal rallied, making eight birdies from the seventh to the eighteenth. His drives were powerful, and he executed several key up‑and‑downs that sealed the round.
He added, “I’ve been playing well since the beginning of the year after finishing inside the top‑10 at the PGTI Qualifying School. My season really gained momentum after my runner‑up finish at the NexGen event in Bhubaneswar. I’ve stayed quite consistent, shooting solid scores ever since.”
Yuvraj continued to be a threat, thanks to his 63 which featured a chip‑in and three long‑range conversions.
Veer Ahlawat was a revelation off the tee, sinking multiple 10‑ to 15‑foot putts, including an eagle during his stunning 62‑round.
