Jaipur, Dec 5 – Veer Ahlawat surged from a fourth‑place spot, five strokes back on the leaderboard, to storm back and win the Victorious Choice presents Jaipur Open 2025 at Rambagh Golf Club. He matched his lowest tournament score, an eight‑under 62, on the final day and delivered a stunning comeback triumph. The event, backed by Shubhashish Homes, carried a prize pot of one crore Rupees.
The Gurugram‑based racer posted rounds of 67‑62‑70‑62, including a 62 in the second round, to finish 19‑under 261 for the week. That tally earned him his fifth title, the INR 15 lakh winner’s purse, and vaulted him from 38th to 18th on the PGTI Order of Merit.
Veer’s flawless bogey‑free finish on Friday also shattered the record for the lowest winning total at Rambagh Golf Club. The previous benchmark was set by Sanjay Kumar, who logged 16‑under 264 at a PGTI event in 2011.
Yuvraj Sandhu, who led by three shots after the third round, finished as runner‑up at 18‑under 262. He shot a 68 on the final day, completing five birdies and three bogeys. The INR 10 lakh cheque raised his season earnings to INR 1,31,67,100, pushing him well above the next tier in the PGTI Order of Merit.
Shaurya Bhattacharya settled for third, recording a 64 to finish 15‑under 265.
After a season on the DP World Tour, Veer returned briefly to the PGTI a few weeks ago. After topping the PGTI rankings last year, he earned his DP World Tour card and, upon his home‑court comeback, captured third places in Pune and Digboi, the tour’s final two events.
On Friday, Veer stole the spotlight again with a second 62 that week. He’s not a fast starter, taking his first two birdies on the sixth and eighth holes, but he fired six birdies on the back nine, including a crucial 14‑foot putt on the 17th that kept him in the hunt.
“I discovered something new in my swing earlier this week that really helped my driving. My driving was the best aspect of my game through the week. I also hit it close for most of the final round. The putts didn’t roll in for me on the front nine, but on the back nine, I holed almost every putt. The game‑changer for me was the 17th, where I played a poor chip shot but, despite that, managed to sink a long putt to salvage a birdie,” Veer, who plays out of the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram, said.
“Playing on the DP World Tour gave me invaluable international exposure. This win now gives me the confidence to finish the season on a strong note,” he added.
Yuvraj led most of the final day, combining five birdies with a single bogey until reaching the 16th hole. After missing short putts on the final two holes, he recorded consecutive bogeys that slipped his championship hopes.
Jaipur‑based pros Prakhar Asawa (281, one‑over) and Hemendra Choudhary (282, two‑over) finished tied 45th and tied 47th, respectively.
