Indian Boxer Jaismine Lamboria Gets Hero’s Welcome After Gold at World Boxing Championship 2025

Jaismine Lamboria, the rising star of Indian boxing, returned home to a joyous reception in Bhiwani, Haryana, after grabbing the gold medal at the World Boxing Championship 2025 in Liverpool, UK. The event, held from September 4 to 14, marked the first edition under a new federation, and Jaismine shone bright with five tough bouts.

Talking to reporters, the excited boxer shared her thrill: "I fought five great matches there and gained tons of experience. My final was against a Polish opponent who won silver at the Paris Olympics. Everyone back home was so happy and cheered me on—it meant the world!"

Jaismine, who already has a bronze from the 2022 Commonwealth Games, opened up about her inspiring journey. She started boxing around 2015-16 and credits her success to building confidence and focusing on mental health. "The Indian Army has backed me fully since 2022, and my family trusts me completely. Even my coaches are family members," she added with a smile.

The 22-year-old isn’t taking a long break. "I’ll relax here for 10-15 days, then head back to training camp in early October. My goal? To give my absolute best in every fight," Jaismine said.

In other great news from the tournament, fellow Indian boxer Pooja Rani also made headlines by securing a bronze medal. Pooja, who competed in the same World Boxing Championship, was all smiles: "The event was fantastic from September 4 to 14, and I’m over the moon with my bronze. Now, we’re gearing up for the World Cup final in November—training starts soon!"

These wins highlight the growing strength of Indian women in boxing, boosting national pride ahead of future international events.
