Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has climbed up the ranks in T20I cricket, surpassing Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become India’s fourth-highest wicket-taker. This milestone came during a thrilling Asia Cup match against Pakistan in Dubai, where Bumrah shone with the ball.
In the high-stakes clash, Bumrah grabbed two key wickets—Muhammad Haris and Sufiyan Muqeem—for just 28 runs in his four overs, keeping an economy rate of 7.00. With this performance, he now boasts 92 wickets in 72 T20Is at an impressive average of 17.67 and an economy of 6.29. His best figures? A stunning 3/7. Bumrah edges out Bhuvneshwar’s 90 wickets from 87 matches. Leading the pack ahead of him are Hardik Pandya (95 wickets in 116 games), Yuzvendra Chahal (96 in 80), and Arshdeep Singh (99 in 63).
The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel also turned heads in the game. Kuldeep delivered a match-winning spell of 3/18, dismissing Sahibzada Farhan, Hassan Nawaz, and Mohammad Nawaz. This effort pushed him past Axar and Ravichandran Ashwin, making him India’s sixth-leading T20I bowler with 76 wickets in 42 matches. His stats are fire: an average of 13.10, economy of 6.66, and a best of 5/17. Against Pakistan specifically, Kuldeep has been a nightmare, snaring 18 wickets in eight games at 12.66 average, with a top haul of 5/25.
Axar Patel wasn’t far behind, picking up two wickets—Fakhar Zaman and skipper Salman Agha—to leapfrog Ashwin and claim the seventh spot among India’s T20I wicket-takers. He now has 74 wickets in 73 matches at 21.64 average, with best figures of 3/9. On a personal note, Axar hit a big milestone by reaching 201 international wickets across 155 games, averaging 25.06. His haul includes five five-wicket spells and one ten-wicket match, with a best of 6/38.
As for the match itself, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first but stumbled early, slipping to 6/2. Sahibzada Farhan (40 off 44 balls, including a four and three sixes) and Fakhar Zaman (17 off 15, with three fours) added 39 runs to steady things, but India’s bowlers struck back, reducing Pakistan to 97/8. A fiery unbeaten 33 off 16 balls from Shaheen Afridi (with four sixes) helped them reach 127/9 in 20 overs.
Kuldeep starred for India with his three wickets, while Axar and Bumrah each took two. Hardik Pandya chipped in with one. What a day for Indian cricket fans—Bumrah, Kuldeep, and Axar all making waves in T20I history!
