New Delhi, November 16 – Chief Minister Rekha Gupta kicked off the Bharatiya Janata Party’s push for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by‑elections. She flew from the capital’s heart to Najafgarh and Shalimar Bagh, meeting voters, local leaders and party workers in a series of rallies aimed at securing votes for the BJP in the 12 vacant wards.
At Najafgarh, Gupta warned that earlier governments had left Delhi’s rural villages behind. “Years of neglect left our villages without basic services,” she told assembled crowds. “Since the BJP came to power, we’ve started adding essential facilities to every street, every ward,” she added. The chief minister urged her party’s workers to explain these improvements to residents and to remind voters that the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed Delhi is already taking shape.
She also shared a message on X, highlighting a meet with Tridev‑style activists from Dichauan Kalan. “If we win Ward 128, led by Rekha Rani ji, we’ll bring new momentum to Najafgarh and Dichauan Kalan,” she said, calling for stronger support for her campaign.
Key BJP figures joined the campaign in Najafgarh, including MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, MLA Neelam Krishna Pahalwan, former mayor Bipin Bihari Singh, district president Raj Sharma, and mandal head Manoj Tiwari.
In Shalimar Bagh, Gupta met residents at the RWA conference held in Trilok Bhawan. She posted on X urging people to vote for the BJP. “Over the last eight months, we’ve moved development in Shalimar Bagh at an unprecedented pace,” she reported. “We request your support for Anita Jain’s upcoming run. With your help, we’ll double our strength and transform Shalimar Bagh into a safe, well‑developed area.”
The BJP currently controls nine of the 12 wards that will go to the polls on November 30, with a vote count scheduled for December 3. The 53 candidates contesting the seats will fight for the party’s chance to solidify its hold on Delhi’s municipal governance.
