KSLTA ITF Juniors: Srishti Kiran, top seed Snigdha Kanta grab win on day two

Day 2 of the KSLTA ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors kept fans on the edge of their seats at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium and Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Top seeds and young tennis stars showcased their talent with exciting matches in both boys’ and girls’ singles.

Leading the boys’ singles, third seed Dev Vipul Patel, fourth seed Vishal Vasudev M, and sixth seed Adhiraj Thakur advanced to the next round. Notably, Rohith Hari Balaji Gobinath from India and Niyanth Badrinarayanan from the USA pulled off impressive wins.

Rohith Gobinath made a remarkable comeback after losing the first set 2-6 to seventh seed Prakaash Sarran. Rohith fought back hard, winning the second set 6-3 and then taking control in the final set 6-2 to win after almost two hours of intense play. It was a thrilling match that showed Rohith’s resilience and fighting spirit.

In another exciting boys’ match, Niyanth Badrinarayanan faced a tough challenge from Yashwin Dahiya. The match was close, with Yashwin winning the first set in a tight tiebreak. But Niyanth bounced back in the second set, breaking early and dominating the third to secure a 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-1 victory. His powerful play helped him seal the win.

On the girls’ side, 13-year-old Srishti Kiran impressed everyone with her strong performance. She beat Tejaswi Mannen in straight sets, 7-6(6), 6-3. Srishti almost lost the first set, saving a set point in the tiebreak, but she fought back to win it 8-6. Then, she took control in the second set with two breaks, finishing strongly.

In a thrilling match, seventh seed Angel Patel made a dramatic comeback to defeat Devashree Mahadeshwar 2-6, 7-6(9), 6-2. Angel lost the first set but refused to give up. After winning a tense second set tiebreak 11-9, she carried her momentum into the final set, breaking early and confidently closing out the match. The nearly three-hour contest proved why Angel is among the top young talents in tennis today.
