FC Barcelona pulled off an exciting comeback to beat Oviedo 3-1 on the road, keeping them just two points behind league leaders Real Madrid in La Liga.
Oviedo shocked everyone by taking the lead in the 33rd minute. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia made a rare blunder, losing the ball far from his goal. That gifted Alberto Reina a long-range strike from 45 meters that flew into the net.
Barcelona fought back strong in the second half. Ten minutes in, Ferran Torres fired a shot that deflected right to Eric Garcia, who tapped it home from close range to tie the score at 1-1.
Substitute Robert Lewandowski then turned the game around. Just five minutes after coming on, he rose high to head in Frenkie de Jong’s perfect cross, putting Barcelona ahead 2-1 in the 70th minute.
The match stayed tense until the final moments. Ronald Araujo sealed the victory with a powerful header from Marcus Rashford’s pass, making it 3-1 two minutes from full time.
This win keeps Barcelona unbeaten and in second place in the La Liga standings. They now gear up for a quick turnaround, hosting Real Sociedad at home on Sunday.
The result marks a milestone for coach Hansi Flick, who notched his 50th win with the club in just 67 games. That puts him as the third-fastest manager to reach the mark in Barcelona history, behind only Luis Enrique (50 in 60) and Helenio Herrera (50 in 63).
Barcelona have now won six of their first seven La Liga games this season, building on 44 victories from last year’s 60 matches. Flick has the team firing on all cylinders early on.
In another La Liga match earlier Thursday, Osasuna and Elche played out a 1-1 draw. Victor Munoz gave Osasuna the lead with a stunning 10th-minute strike at home. But Elche fought back after halftime, with Adria Pedroza capitalizing on a defensive mix-up to roll the ball into an empty net. That keeps Elche unbeaten through six games.
