La28 – the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games – is officially 1,000 days away. The countdown is building excitement across the United States, especially in Oklahoma City, where the first two key new venues are set to host Olympic competition.

The city will host softball matches at a purpose‑built stadium that opened in early 2023. It already served as the venue for the U.S. Women’s Softball National Championship, and officials say the Olympic games will bring a new level of energy to the field. “We’re proud to offer world‑class facilities for the 2028 Games,” said the mayor. “It’s a highlight for the local sports community.”

Oklahoma City will also feature a canoe slalom course, part of the long‑term vision for the region’s water‑sports complex. Opened last summer, the course will carry the world’s best paddlers through a challenging series of drops and turns. The city’s council celebrated the venue’s completion, noting the boost to both tourism and local business.

At the same time, Los Angeles is preparing for its role as the host city for the Games. The city’s master plan already includes upgraded roadways, expanded public transit, and several new sports arenas. LA28’s marketing team says the city’s iconic venues—like the newly renovated Staples Center and a proposed new Olympic Stadium—will be ready by 2027. “We’re creating an unforgettable Olympic moment here,” the LA28 CEO said.

Beyond sports infrastructure, the race has turned to social and environmental impact. LA28 is committing to zero net‑carbon emissions for the Games and is building a reusable “soft package” for each venue to reduce waste. The city also plans to host a legacy program for local athletes, giving them a chance to train in Olympic‑standard fields.

With each day, new opportunities arise for fans, athletes, and local businesses. The 1,000‑day mark is a milestone for the Games, adding momentum to a decade of preparation. Whether cheering at the 2028 softball diamond in Oklahoma City or watching canoe slalom competitors sprint down the water’s spine, the world will soon witness an edition of the Olympics unlike any other.
