Mahanaaryaman Scindia, son of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, has taken on a new role as the President of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA). He officially started his term on Tuesday, becoming the youngest-ever MPCA president since the association’s founding in 1957.
At only 29 years old, Mahanaaryaman was elected without opposition, making history as the youngest leader of MPCA. He previously served as vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) and is also the president of the Madhya Pradesh T20 League, which held its first edition in Gwalior in 2024. Mahanaaryaman was made a lifetime member of MPCA in 2022.
In a heartfelt statement, Mahanaaryaman said, “MPCA is like a family where decisions are made together. It’s truly unique because our elections are conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere—something that sets us apart from other states.”
Coming from a family with a rich cricketing legacy, Mahanaaryaman is the third generation from the Scindia family to lead MPCA. His grandfather, late Madhavrao Scindia, and father Jyotiraditya Scindia, have all served as MPCA presidents. “This is very emotional for me, knowing that both my grandfather and father carried the same responsibility,” he added.
The new leadership team was announced during the MPCA Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Along with Mahanaaryaman, key officials include vice-president Vineet Sethia, secretary Sudhir Asnani (a former international umpire), joint secretary Arundhati Kirkire (a former Indian women’s cricketer), and treasurer Sanjeev Dua.
Mahanaaryaman shared the association’s future plans, emphasizing a focus on promoting cricket in rural areas and increasing women’s participation in the sport. “We want to continue the dedicated work of previous leaders like Abhilash Khandekar and his team. Our goal is to grow cricket everywhere,” he said.
Before taking on his new role, Mahanaaryaman and his father Jyotiraditya Scindia visited the famous Khajrana Ganesh temple in Indore to seek blessings.
One of their upcoming priorities is preparing for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. The matches will be held at Holkar Stadium, including key games featuring defending champions Australia and a match between India and England on October 19.
This marked a proud moment for the Scindia family and cricket fans in Madhya Pradesh, as Mahanaaryaman steps into a leadership role that continues a proud cricketing legacy in the state.
