Jackie Shroff remembers the iconic late S. D. Burman on 119th birth anniversary

On October 1, actor Jackie Shroff paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary composer S.D. Burman on his 119th birth anniversary. Jackie shared a classic black-and-white photo of Burman on his Instagram Stories, captioning it simply: "Remembering S D Burman ji on his Birth Anniversary."

S.D. Burman, who hailed from the royal family of Tripura, kicked off his career in Bengali films back in 1937. He soon made waves in Hindi cinema as one of India’s most beloved music directors, crafting unforgettable soundtracks for more than 100 films in both languages. Known for his versatility, Burman blended folk tunes from East Bengal with light semi-classical vibes. His iconic compositions came alive through the voices of top singers like Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Shamshad Begum, Mukesh, and Talat Mahmood.

Tragically, Burman slipped into a coma right after rehearsing the song "Badi Sooni Sooni Hai" for the film Mili. He passed away on October 31, 1975, in Mumbai after several days in that state.

Shifting gears to Jackie Shroff’s latest work, he stars as the menacing antagonist "The Salesman" in the second season of the thrilling series Hunter 2. The stakes ramp up when Vikram gets a shocking call from his daughter, who everyone thought was dead—only to learn she’s now in the clutches of this mysterious figure.

Fans can catch Jackie next in the comedy-adventure Welcome To The Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan. The star-studded lineup includes Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Mukesh Tiwari, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, and Sayaji Shinde.

Meanwhile, Kajol is making headlines with Season 2 of the gripping legal drama The Trial. This Indian adaptation of the hit American series The Good Wife by Robert King and Michelle King puts Kajol front and center as Noyonika Sengupta.

In the first season, Noyonika steps into the high-stakes world of law after a decade as a housewife, joining a firm to support her family when her husband lands in jail. Season 2 jumps three months ahead, showing her growing bolder in the courtroom while her home life crumbles—her marriage to Rajiv hits rock bottom, and their daughters bear the brunt of the family tension.
