In a thrilling update from the world of women’s cricket, Pakistan’s Muneeba Ali, Ireland’s Orla Prendergast, and Netherlands’ Iris Zwilling have earned spots on the shortlist for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for August 2025. These rising stars shone bright in international matches, making waves in T20 cricket fans are talking about.

Let’s start with Muneeba Ali, the talented Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter. She smashed her second T20I century during the series against Ireland, scoring a stunning 100 off just 68 balls in the third match. This feat marks only the second time a Pakistan women’s batter has hit a T20I hundred—her first one also came against Ireland at the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Muneeba’s explosive knock included 14 boundaries and a massive six, blending smooth timing with raw power. She ended the series as Pakistan’s second-top scorer with an average of 66, just behind her rival Orla.

Now, turning to Orla Prendergast from Ireland—she’s been on fire! Orla kept her impressive form going strong in the T20I series against Pakistan and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. In August, she racked up 244 runs at an average of 48.80 and a strike rate of 127.08, while also grabbing seven wickets. Her all-round heroics powered Ireland to a 2-1 series victory over Pakistan, where she topped the run charts with 144 runs in three innings, featuring two quick half-centuries. Orla didn’t stop there—she claimed four wickets for her team and walked away with the Player of the Series award. In the Europe Qualifiers, she added another 100 runs and three wickets in five games, proving she’s a game-changer for Ireland’s women’s cricket team.

Finally, Iris Zwilling from the Netherlands stole the show at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. Her brilliant bowling helped her side secure four wins out of six matches. Iris finished as the joint-top wicket-taker in the tournament with an impressive 10 scalps at an economy rate of 4.65. She delivered her best spells in key wins, like 3-14 against Germany and a miserly 3-6 against Italy. The 22-year-old all-rounder also contributed with the bat, scoring 39 runs at a strike rate of 121.87 from the lower order. Iris’s versatility makes her a vital asset for Netherlands women’s cricket.

These nominations highlight the growing excitement in women’s T20 cricket, with players like Muneeba, Orla, and Iris pushing boundaries and inspiring fans worldwide. Who will take home the ICC Women’s Player of the Month title? Stay tuned for the big reveal!
