Ludhiana, Punjab – The 8th Nagesh Trophy – Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind – kept fans on the edge of their seats this Tuesday at the Punjab Agricultural University Ground. Group F matches ran in back‑to‑back action, with two close games decided in the final overs.
Assam narrowly beat Tripura by two runs. Assam batted first and scored 125 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Their bowlers kept a tight line, and Tripura fell short at 123 runs for eight wickets. Star performer Amlanjyoti Talukdar stood out with three key wickets and an excellent all‑round display, earning the Player of the Match award.
In the afternoon, Chhattisgarh lifted Punjab by six wickets. Punjab posted 151 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs, setting a good target, but Chhattisgarh chased it down smoothly, finishing with just three balls to spare. Kicking a 48‑run innings and taking three wickets, Dushyant Kumar was named Player of the Match.
Wednesday’s Group F schedule sees Chhattisgarh host Assam in the morning, followed by Tripura taking on Punjab in the afternoon.
The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), in partnership with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, oversaw the 7th edition of the IndusInd Bank Nagesh Trophy. The 2024‑25 tournament features 28 teams, including 24 state and 3 union‑territory squads, plus an Indian Railways team made up of visually impaired railway staff. Teams are split into six groups based on last year’s rankings: four groups of five teams, and two groups of four.
The group stage will decide which teams reach the national finals, where the best “blind” cricket talent in India will battle for the championship title.
