Bengaluru, India – The Netherlands wrapped up a 3‑0 sweep over India on the final day of the Billie Jean King Cup play‑offs at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium. The Dutch squad showed why they’re a force in women’s tennis, claiming every rubber in convincing straight‑sets victories.

First singles: Anouk Koevermans vs. Shrivalli Bhamidipaty
Dutch star Anouk Koevermans opened the tie with a confident 6‑2, 6‑4 win over India’s Shrivalli Bhamidipaty (world No. 381). Koevermans broke early in the first set, kept the pressure on, and closed the match before the second set began. After a brief effort from Bhamidipaty in the second set, Koevermans held her lead to finish the match 6‑2, 6‑4. “I asked the captain to run for every ball,” Koevermans said. “It keeps me focused and forces my opponent to make mistakes.”

Second singles: Sophie Lamens vs. Sahaja Yamalapalli
The second rubber was a 6‑2, 6‑3 win for Sophie Lamens (world No. 89) over India’s Sahaja Yamalapalli (world No. 309). Lamens dominated the first set, broke early again, and then pushed Yamalapalli hard to hold her advantage. Yamalapalli admitted, “Suzan was a very good player with a lot of experience. She challenged me every point, and I had to play all the time. It was a tough match but a good learning experience.”

Doubles: Lamens/Demi Schuurs vs. Raina/Thombare
The final rubber saw Lamens team up with Dutch veteran Demi Schuurs to face India’s Ankita Raina and Prarthana Thombare. The Dutch pair overran the Indian duo, winning 6‑1, 6‑1. Lamens and Schuurs controlled every rally, closing each set with a decisive break and a flawless baseline game.

Netherlands’ clean sweep of India confirms their strong position in the Billie Jean King Cup play‑offs and highlights the depth of Dutch women’s tennis. The victory in Bengaluru puts the Netherlands on a clear path forward as they aim for the next phase of the competition.
