Pakistan is gearing up for an exciting cricket event! The country will host its very first T20I tri-series from November 17 to 29, bringing together Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. This Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) initiative aims to give these teams solid preparation for the 2025 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
The action kicks off on November 17 with Pakistan taking on Afghanistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This match will be special as it’s Afghanistan’s first-ever T20I in Pakistan. Remember, Afghanistan has played five ODIs there before, including a recent one against Australia during the ICC Champions Trophy in February this year.
On November 19, Sri Lanka faces Afghanistan in Rawalpindi. After that, the spotlight shifts to Lahore, where the remaining five T20I matches, including the thrilling final on November 29, will unfold at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium.
PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Sumair Ahmed Syed, shared his excitement: “We can’t wait to welcome Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for Pakistan’s maiden T20I tri-series. This tournament will provide top-notch prep for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup next year and deliver edge-of-your-seat cricket for fans across our venues.” He also highlighted PCB’s recent successes, like hosting the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier earlier this year, proving their readiness for big international events.
Before this tri-series, Pakistan has more cricket lined up. From October 12 to November 8, they’ll host South Africa for two World Test Championship matches and three T20Is in Lahore and Rawalpindi. That wraps up with three ODIs in Faisalabad.
