Amrit Lal Claims First Professional Golf Win at Patna Golf Club
Chandigarh’s talented golfer, Amrit Lal, has made a big splash by winning his first professional tournament at the PGTI NEXGEN 2025 held at Patna Golf Club. The 25-year-old golfer outplayed tough competitors in a dramatic three-way playoff, earning his spot in the winners’ circle.
Amrit Lal started the final round tied for the lead and shot a 74, finishing with a total score of 214 (two-under par) after three rounds. He was joined at the top by Sanjeev Kumar from Lucknow and Lakshya Nagar from Noida, who also finished at 214. In the intense playoff, Lakshya faced a setback after making a bogey on the first extra hole and was eliminated. On the second playoff hole, Amrit held his nerve and made par, while Sanjeev stumbled with a bogey, allowing Amrit to claim the victory.
With this win, Amrit Lal pocketed INR 2,54,300, boosting his ranking from 17th to a strong fourth place in the 2025 PGTI NEXGEN Order of Merit. Lucknow’s Rajesh Kumar Gautam continues to lead the season rankings with earnings of INR 5,83,200, while local player Md Nawab from Patna finished in a tie for 12th place.
During the final round, Amrit Lal was initially in a good position thanks to steady play and a birdie on the second hole. However, he faced some tough moments on the back nine, making four bogeys due to erratic shots. Despite these challenges, he managed to stay focused and secure his victory in the playoff.
Amrit Lal shared his thoughts after winning, saying, “All parts of my game were working well this week. I drove, chipped, and putted better than before. The key was staying mentally strong during the playoff, which helped me stay calm and finish strong.”
He also spoke about his journey back from injury, mentioning, “Making the cut on the main tour a few weeks ago gave me a lot of confidence. I injured my left thumb and it affected my game for a while. Thanks to Dr. Vishal Gautam, I recovered fully, and my fitness coach, Sagar Diwan, helped me get back to peak form.”
This exciting win marks a major milestone for Amrit Lal, and fans are looking forward to seeing more of his rising talent in future tournaments.
