BSF Cracks Down on Drug Smugglers Along Punjab Border: Heroin, Pistol, and Drones Seized
In a series of swift actions, the Border Security Force (BSF) nabbed four suspects and seized a pistol, drug money, and a drone loaded with heroin in three separate operations along the Punjab border. These busts highlight the ongoing battle against cross-border smuggling in districts like Ferozepur and Amritsar.
The action kicked off on Sunday night in Ferozepur. BSF troops, tipped off by specific intelligence, set up an ambush between villages Palla Megha and Kilche. They caught one person red-handed, recovering a pistol with three live rounds, 45 grams of narcotics, ₹19,480 in cash, a mobile phone, and a bike. The suspect hails from Kamlewala village in Ferozepur, according to a BSF press release.
Shifting to the Amritsar border, troops spotted suspicious drone activity and zeroed in on three suspects near Mode village. The BSF is now questioning them to uncover their motives and any links to larger smuggling networks.
Come Monday morning, the BSF’s vigilance paid off again in Amritsar. Troops on duty found a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone in a field near Nesta village, carrying a packet of heroin weighing 576 grams. This drone smuggling attempt shows how smugglers keep trying new tricks to sneak drugs across the Indo-Pak border.
This isn’t the first time. Earlier this month, BSF foiled several smuggling bids in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Ferozepur. They arrested three smugglers and recovered heroin along with drones. For instance, near Kalsian village in Tarn Taran, troops nabbed a suspect with 560 grams of heroin.
In a recent X post, BSF shared more details from the past 24 hours of operations. Alert teams, acting on precise tips, stopped multiple attempts. In Amritsar’s Rattankhurd village, they seized 590 grams of heroin after tracking a drone. Another bust near Kalsian in Tarn Taran yielded 560 grams, while 600 grams turned up near Naushera Dhalla.
Over in Ferozepur, the heat was on too. Following a big haul of nine heroin packets and two arrests, BSF recovered a drone near Hussainiwala barrage. They also caught two more suspects near Khalra as they tried to pick up a drone-dropped package.
These back-to-back successes show the BSF’s non-stop efforts to guard India’s borders and fight the growing narcotics threat from across the line. Punjab’s border areas remain a hotspot for such smuggling, and the force is staying one step ahead.
