Chennai – Telugu Titans kept their perfect record on Thursday, beating the Haryana Steelers 46‑29 in the Chennai leg of PKL 12. The win at the SDAT Multi‑Purpose Indoor Stadium gave the Titans their fifth straight victory.
All‑rounder Bharat Hooda was the star of the game, scoring 20 points – 16 from raids and 4 from tackles – and helping the Titans extend their unbeaten run. “Bharat has been excellent for us this season,” head coach Krishan Kumar Hooda said. “A lot of it is the support staff, the coaches and the CEO. We had a long pre‑season camp with new training methods and the physios kept everyone fit. Even when a player is hurt, they work hard to get them back quickly. We all share the goal of making the team better.”
Captain Vijay Malik also emphasized the team’s freedom on the court. “We have good unity, but we don’t crowd our players with too many instructions. We step in only when it helps, but generally we let them play themselves.” Hooda praised the captain’s role in bringing out the best in the squad. “Getting Vijay in the auction, we knew he would be our leader. He brings people together and makes everyone listen. That unity is why we’ve been so strong.”
Despite the Titans’ dominance, both teams showed respect after the match. Hooda explained his connection with Steelers’ coach Manpreet Singh, adding that they have known each other since the India camp three years ago. “Manpreet is emotional at times, and that aggression is part of the game. He’s a good coach and won the title last season, and I know he’ll push his team back into title contention again,” Hooda said.
The Telugu Titans’ winning streak continues as they look forward to the next PKL 12 matches.
