Tamil Thalaivas grabbed their first home win in years by crushing the defending champions Haryana Steelers 45-33 in an electrifying Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match at Chennai’s SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium on Friday. The packed crowd cheered wildly as the team celebrated their biggest home victory since PKL Season 6 back in 2018.
Star raider Arjun Deshwal stole the show with a stunning 21-point haul, including a Super 10 that powered his team to dominance. Nitesh Kumar chipped in with four key tackles, while Haryana’s Jaideep Dahiya earned a High Five and Vishal Tate notched a Super 10—but it wasn’t enough to stop the Thalaivas’ rampage.
The game kicked off with high energy. Haryana Steelers struck first as Sahil Narwal tackled Arjun and Vinay added a quick raid point. Tamil Thalaivas fired back with Rohit Beniwal’s raid and Nitesh’s tackle on Vinay. Both captains, Arjun and Jaideep, traded points early, keeping things tight.
Haryana pulled ahead with Jaideep’s two Super Tackles in the first 10 minutes, plus Shivam Patare’s help, building a three-point edge. Arjun kept his team close with a Do-Or-Die Raid, and defenders like Nitesh, Himanshu, and Ronak stepped up. Still, Jaideep’s High Five gave Haryana a slim 15-13 lead at halftime.
The second half flipped the script. Tamil Thalaivas tied it at 15-15 and turned it into Arjun’s personal highlight reel. After just three points in the first half, he exploded for 19 more, triggering the game’s first All Out for a three-point lead. Aashish and Nitesh’s tackles widened the gap, and Arjun sealed his Super 10 with the first Super Raid.
Momentum surged as Arjun orchestrated a second All Out in under 10 minutes, pushing the score to a 10-point advantage. He kept raiding effortlessly, hitting 34-21 with nine minutes left, fueled by the roaring Chennai fans. A third All Out followed, as Thalaivas outscored Haryana 18-6 in that crucial stretch.
Haryana fought back late with Vishal Tate’s four-point raid and their first All Out, narrowing it to 41-30. But Arjun’s relentless performance sealed the deal, delivering a memorable win that reignites Tamil Thalaivas’ home spirit in the PKL.
