Puneri Paltan roared back to the top of the Pro Kabaddi League standings with a thrilling 39-33 win over Telugu Titans in Jaipur. The match, played at the SMS Indoor Stadium on Saturday, showcased some top-notch defending from the PKL 10 champions, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
From the opening whistle, both teams charged into action. Puneri Paltan’s Aslam Inamdar and Telugu Titans’ Bharat Hooda traded raids and tackles to kick things off. Pankaj Mohite grabbed a quick raid point, and Vishal Bhardwaj nailed a tackle, giving Paltan an early 2-point edge. But the Titans fought back hard—Avi Duhan pulled off a super tackle to tie it at 6-6.
The first half turned into a nail-biter, with raiders like Pankaj Mohite and Aslam shining for Paltan, while Vijay Malik’s do-or-die raid kept the Titans alive. By the end of the first 10 minutes, Paltan edged ahead 8-7.
Paltan then turned up the heat. Vishal Bhardwaj’s key tackle sparked the game’s first all-out, stretching their lead to four points. Vijay Malik raided for four points to keep Titans close, but Paltan’s defense was on fire. Gaurav Khatri racked up four tackles, and Aslam dominated both raiding and defending. At halftime, Paltan led comfortably 24-14.
Coming back strong, Aditya Shinde and Pankaj kept the pressure on in the second half. Telugu Titans showed grit, with Bharat Hooda finding his rhythm and narrowing the gap to six points. But Gaurav Khatri shut that down with a super tackle on Hooda, completing his high five and pushing Paltan’s lead to nine with under 10 minutes left.
Titans refused to quit—Avi Duhan hit another super tackle, and Bharat kept raiding to make it a seven-point game. Paltan responded swiftly, though, as Vishal Bhardwaj sealed his high five with a crucial tackle. With the clock winding down, Paltan’s defenders owned the mat, holding off a late push.
Bharat Hooda finished with a super 10 for Titans, but it wasn’t enough. Puneri Paltan clinched the victory, reclaiming the top spot in the Pro Kabaddi League table. What a defensive masterclass from Gaurav Khatri (seven tackles) and Vishal Bhardwaj (six tackles)!
