In the early hours of Thursday night, the Gujarat Giants edged out the UP Yoddhas 41‑39 to secure a thrilling double against their rivals at Chennai’s SDAT Multi‑Purpose Indoor Stadium. The win, one of back‑to‑back victories for the Giants, keeps their playoff hopes alive and confirms the top‑eight spot for Dabang Delhi K.C. despite a loss to Bengal Warriorz.

The game kicked off with both captains setting the tempo. Gujarat’s star raider Rakesh Sungroya stormed out with a career‑best 20 raid points, while UP’s Guman Singh made his mark with a Super 10 and a 600‑point milestone. Lucky Sharma’s four tackles for Gujarat added pressure on the Yoddhas, who matched the intensity with a series of timely tackles.

Early in the first half, the Giants pulled ahead. Rakesh’s multi‑point raid on a do‑or‑die play gave Gujarat a 20‑16 advantage, and a quick All‑Out sealed a 22‑19 margin midway through the session. The second half saw struggling Yoddhas attempting a comeback after these solid defensive plays by Guman Singh and Bhavani Rajput. The scoreboard tightened to 36‑36 as Guman delivered a crucial raid, but Gujarat’s Lucky Sharma netted the fourth tackle of the night to forge a 38‑36 lead.

Back‑to‑back rally attempts by the Yoddhas brought the score to a brilliant 38‑38, just one minute out. With the crook of the final round, Mohammadreza Shadloui stole a raid for Gujarat, snapping the tie for a 40‑39 advantage. Ankit Dahiya sealed the 41‑39 finish with a desperate tackle on Guman, giving the Giants a decisive victory.

The win shows the Gujarat Giants’ resilience and sharp offensive strategy, cementing their status as a formidable contender in the current league. Their performance against the UP Yoddhas highlights a season of high‑energy play and a promising path to the playoffs.
