U Mumba surged to fourth place on the Pro Kabaddi League points table with a convincing 40-25 victory over Gujarat Giants at the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The thrilling match on Thursday saw Sandeep Kumar shine brightest for U Mumba, racking up 16 points, while Rinku and Sunil Kumar each earned High Fives with their stellar tackles.

From the start, U Mumba took control, building a 10-6 lead by the 10th minute. Early raids went empty for both teams, but Gujarat Giants’ Rakesh and Ankit Dahiya notched some points, matched by U Mumba’s Ajit Chouhan and Amirmohammad Zafardanesh. Sunil Kumar and Rinku locked down the defense, stopping Giants’ advances cold.

Sandeep Kumar stayed on fire from his last game, grabbing five points in five raids. He dismissed key Giants players like Nitin Panwar and Mohammadreza Shadloui, keeping U Mumba ahead by four points despite Dahiya’s strong pushes for Gujarat.

U Mumba ramped up the pressure in the first half’s second half, dominating with smart attacks and solid defense. Gujarat tried sparking things with Parteek Dahiya, but Lokesh and Zafardanesh shut him down fast. Sunil Kumar led the tackles, nailing Rakesh to kill any momentum.

Sandeep kept the raids coming and triggered an All Out around the ninth minute, taking out Shadloui and Rohit Nandal in a flash. That gave U Mumba a huge 23-11 halftime edge, leaving Gujarat Giants scrambling.

In the second half, U Mumba kept rolling, widening the gap early on. Gujarat made subs to fight back, but Rinku’s defense blocked them every time. Sandeep orchestrated more successful raids, even shaking off tackles from Giants defenders.

Ajit Chouhan joined the fun with crucial raids, exploiting Gujarat’s weak spots. Another All Out sealed U Mumba’s control, pushing their lead to 33-16 by the ninth minute.

U Mumba never let up in the final stretch, mixing sharp raids and timely tackles to crush any comeback hopes. Fresh Gujarat raiders couldn’t break through as U Mumba’s defenders stayed sharp. Sandeep teamed up with Anil and Ajit Chouhan to pick off Giants stars, while Gujarat’s late raids mostly fizzled out.

With smart subs and steady play, U Mumba clinched the 15-point win, boosting their Pro Kabaddi League campaign in Chennai.
