Chennai, Oct 8 – Puneri Paltan clinched a 37‑27 victory over U Mumba in a lively Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match at the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium. The win kept Puneri’s strong season run alive and proved the team’s balanced play could outmatch the defending champions.
The game opened with U Mumba in front. Rinku stopped Aslam Inamdar early, and Ajit Chouhan’s super raid sent four U‑Mumba defenders to the mat. That gave the defending champions a quick 4‑0 lead. Puneri only earned its first point when Aditya Shinde cleared Rinku twice, setting the stage for a comeback.
Aditya quickly turned the tide. His raids beat Lokesh Ghosliya and Parvesh Bhainswal, pulling Puneri level at 5‑5 inside the same quarter. Though U Mumba went back on top before the break, Puneri dominated the second half.
In the second quarter, Puneri showcased why fans call them one of the most balanced sides this season. While U Mumba set the tempo, Aslam and Pankaj launched a series of sharp raids that produced the match’s first all‑out. The momentum shift saw Puneri surge to a 17‑12 advantage by halftime. Their players moved with purpose, controlling possession and dictating play.
The third quarter kept the score close. U Mumba’s Ajit Chouhan kept the pressure on with successful raids against Vishal Bhardwaj and Gurdeep. For Puneri, Aditya matched Ajit’s success, scoring point after point while strong defenders Gurdeep and Abinesh Nadarajan made crucial tackles.
With ten minutes left, the scores were neck‑and‑neck at 22‑21. A tackle by Amirmohammad Zafardanesh on Pankaj equalised for U Mumba, but Puneri’s Aditya returned the favour with a super tackle that tipped the lead back to his side. The crowd roared as Puneri built a four‑point margin – a safe cushion for the final five minutes.
Aditya finished the match with a super 10, bringing his career PKL points to 100 – a memorable milestone. He sealed the game by forcing an all‑out on U Mumba, turning a close contest into a decisive 10‑point win.
Puneri Paltan’s victory against U Mumba shows how a mix of strong raids and disciplined defence can triumph in the PKL. The win boosts their conference standing and sets the stage for a thrilling finish to Season 12.
