PKL 12: Telugu Titans hold nerve to edge past Gujarat Giants in low-scoring thriller

New Delhi, Oct 19 – In a tightly contested match that swung back and forth, the Telugu Titans beat the Gujarat Giants 30‑25 in the final of the kabbadi tournament at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium. The game stayed neck‑and‑neck until the last quarter when the Titans pulled ahead, thanks to strong defense and clutch raids.

The first ten minutes saw both sides push hard. Vijay Malik led the Titans, contributing raid points and tackles, while Bharat Hooda helped push the scoreline. Gujarat’s Rakesh found gaps in the Titans’ lines, and Lucky Sharma made several key tackles to keep the Giants in the hunt. By the 10‑minute mark the score was 6‑6.

Over the next phase, Malik kept up the pressure, adding crucial do‑or‑die points. Manjeet also found openings against the Giants, keeping the balance. Gujarat answered with timely raids from Himanshu Singh and Rakesh. Lucky and Mohammadreza Shadloui stopped the Titans’ momentum. The running score hit 11‑11 at 20 minutes.

The intensity didn’t wane. Bharat, continuing his attacking spree, made critical raids and kept Gujarat from pulling ahead. Defensive stand from Ankit helped thwart the Giants’ attempts. Gujarat’s consistency stayed in check as the score again balanced at 17‑17 with 30 minutes left.

The turning point came when the Titans’ defence, led by Ajit Pawar and Avi Duhan, executed a perfect all‑out, flooding the Giants’ line and swinging momentum in their favor. Bharat hit another do‑or‑die raid, sending Shadloui and Rakesh off the mat, while Malik added more crucial points.

Gujarat fought back with late pressure from Himanshu Singh and Rakesh, but the Titans’ disciplined defense held firm. In the end, the Telugu Titans finished with a five‑point cushion, sealing the victory with composure and a well‑coordinated attack.

This win places the Telugu Titans into the next stage of the competition, while the Gujarat Giants move on with an encouraging showing.
