PKL 12: U Mumba beat Haryana Steelers in tie-breaker to qualify for top eight

New Delhi, Oct 19 – In a high‑energy showdown at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium, U Mumba edged out the Haryana Steelers 7–4 in a tense tie‑breaker, securing a top‑eight spot in PKL Season 12. The match kept fans on the edge of their seats, with U Mumba’s Sandeep scoring nine points to become the star of the day.

The Steelers launched the game strong, grabbing the first point after Vinay’s successful raid. Jaideep followed up with a sharp tackle, pushing the score to 2‑1 in Haryana’s favor. Shivam Patare then swept in a two‑point raid to extend the lead. The Steelers’ defence also pressed hard, creating early pressure on U Mumba raiders.

Within the first five minutes, the Steelers performed an early All‑Out, pulling ahead 10‑3. U Mumba’s comeback began with Sandeep’s Super Raid, cutting the gap to 10‑7. Despite this, the Steelers maintained control in both attack and defence, and by the first‑half strategic timeout they were comfortably up 13‑8.

When play resumed, Vijay Kumar’s solid tackle earned U Mumba the first point of the second half. Jaideep answered with another successful tackle, keeping the Steelers in front. The teams traded points, but the Steelers’ Super Tackle added two more, bringing their lead to 18‑12.

U Mumba answered back with Ajit Chouhan’s raid, forcing another All‑Out that netted five points and reduced the deficit to 19‑17. Momentum swung in favour of U Mumba, and they tied the score at 19‑19 before the first half ended, both teams at 20‑20.

The second half opened with Sandeep’s raid giving U Mumba an early lead. The Steelers fought back with Jaideep’s High 5 and a Super Tackle, tying again at 22‑22. A quick bonus point from the Steelers pushed them ahead 24‑23, but U Mumba regained control with Rinku’s tactical tackle. The Steelers responded, and by the first strategic timeout the score was 28‑25 in their favour.

Play continued to swing. After Parvesh Bhainswal’s tackle, U Mumba narrowed the gap. Sandeep’s powerful super raid put them ahead 31‑30, and an All‑Out pushed the lead to 34‑31. With less than a minute to go, Sahil Narwal of the Steelers answered, leveling the score at 35‑35.

When the tie‑breaker began, the Steelers struck first, taking a 1‑0 lead. U Mumba countered, and the score was tied again. A critical tackle from U Mumba’s defence pushed the game to 4‑3. Then Sathish Kannan’s super raid added three points, sealing the win at 7‑3 for U Mumba.

Sandeep’s nine points and the team’s relentless defence helped U Mumba move into the play‑offs, while the Steelers kept their fight alive. With this victory, U Mumba will now vie for a spot among the top eight teams in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12.
