U Mumba took total control of the match and beat the Telugu Titans 33‑26 at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday. Their raiders and defenders moved as a single unit, piling up points on both sides of the court.
The win, together with a defeat of the Bengaluru Bulls by the Patna Pirates, pushed Dabang Delhi K.C. into the top two of the rankings and kept the team’s title hopes alive.
The game started quickly for U Mumba. They claimed the first point and then added more thanks to a sharp raid by Ajit Chouhan. The Titans answered soon after, with Bharat scoring a point for his side. U Mumba built a 6‑2 lead early, but Bharat later recorded a two‑point raid that cut the margin to 7‑6.
Even as the Titans tightened up, U Mumba held a lead of 6‑8 when the first‑half timeout was called. Resuming play, the U Mumba team kept the rhythm, extending the advantage to 11‑7. Both teams traded points, but U Mumba’s consistency kept them ahead, and the half ended 14‑12 in their favor.
In the second half, both squads showed solid defensive play. Important early points came from Amir Mohammad, Zafar Danesh and Vijay Malik, but U Mumba initially led 15‑13. A raid by Praful Zaware narrowed the gap for the Titans, yet U Mumba recovered with a smart attack from Zafar Danesh to regain a two‑point cushion.
The momentum stayed with U Mumba. They took a big run, widening the score to 23‑17. Their balanced attack and tight defence kept the Titans’ scoring in check. After the second‑half timeout, U Mumba led 25‑17.
When play resumed, the team snatched another point and pushed the advantage further. The Titans managed a few quick scores, but U Mumba’s defenders remained unyielding. Rinku pulled off a brilliant tackle, adding another point for the red team and extending the lead to 19‑28.
Vijay Malik displayed a strong effort for the Titans, but U Mumba’s pressure was too much to overcome and they rode out the game to a comfortable victory. The win secures U Mumba’s place in the league’s upper echelon and keeps Dabang Delhi K.C. in contention for the playoffs.
