PKL 12: Vijay Malik stars as Telugu Titans’ all-round effort seals big win over Patna Pirates

The Telugu Titans grabbed a thrilling 37-28 win over the Patna Pirates in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 at Chennai’s SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium on Tuesday. Star raider Vijay Malik lit up the court with a Super 10, powering the Titans to their third straight victory and a spot in the top three.

Malik proved unstoppable, raiding past defenders and racking up points that kept the Titans in control. Patna’s Ayan Lohchab matched him with his own Super 10, delivering sharp raids to keep the Pirates alive. But the Titans’ strong defense and all-around teamwork sealed the deal in tense moments.

The Titans kicked off strong, with Avi Duhan nailing a Super Tackle for the first points and Malik adding a quick raid to lead 2-0. Patna hit back fast as Ayan scored on a raid, but the Titans pushed forward to build a 3-point edge in the first six minutes.

The Pirates clawed closer, tying it at 8-7 before the first-half timeout, but the Titans held a slim one-point lead. After the break, the Titans surged to 10-7 with solid raids and tackles. Patna’s Sudhakar M. narrowed it to 10-8, and Ayan’s Super Raid flipped the score to 10-11, turning the match into a nail-biter.

Both teams traded points fiercely, and Patna edged ahead 16-15 at halftime, thanks to Ayan’s standout raids in the opening half.

In the second half, Patna’s Balaji D tackled sharply to go up 17-15, but Titans’ Shubham Shinde answered with a Super Tackle to tie it up. From there, the Titans took charge, raiding smartly and defending tough to lead 22-20 with over 13 minutes left. They stretched it to 24-20 before the timeout.

Bharat’s raid sparked an All Out on Patna, blasting the Titans to a 29-21 lead. They kept the pressure on, hitting 33-22 with a tackle from Ankit. Patna grabbed a few points late, but the Titans stayed steady at 34-26 with 40 seconds to go.

In the dying moments, Malik’s stunning Super Raid pushed the score to 37-27, and the Titans closed out the PKL Season 12 Chennai match with a solid 37-28 triumph. This win boosts their playoff hopes in the competitive league.
