Jaipur, Oct 20 – BAPS devotees around the world lit lamps and shared joy as the group welcomed Diwali and the Hindu New Year. The organization’s head, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj (Swami Keshavjivandas), sent a heartfelt message to faithful followers, saints and well‑wishers everywhere.
In his note, the Maharaj urged everyone to turn Diwali into a yearly practice of inner light, saying: “Those who truly follow the Guru live in eternal Diwali.” He explained that for devotees the celebration is more than candles and fireworks; it’s a daily vow to burn away ignorance and kindle virtue. “The spark of faith, discipline and service keeps our soul bright forever,” he wrote.
The holiday’s meaning, he added, stretches beyond lighting lamps. It invites people to keep the flame of humility, righteousness and service burning inside them. The message also carried wishes for the New Year: “May you find peace, unity and prosperity in your family. May love and harmony grow in all your relationships.”
The Maharaj’s video message, posted on the BAPS YouTube channel, repeated this theme. “The lamp’s light fades, but the light of the soul will always shine,” he reminded viewers, encouraging families to let compassion fill every corner of their homes.
BAPS temples celebrated the festivities across the globe. In Jaipur, Delhi’s Akshardham, London, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Nairobi and Atlanta, devotees performed Aarti, Chopda Puja, sang bhajans, listened to discourses and participated in Deepotsav. These rituals united millions in prayer, music and a shared sense of awe.
In closing, the Maharaj reminded everyone that true worship happens when we spread peace and love among our families and communities. “May the divine light of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and the Guru Parampara forever illuminate your lives,” he signed off, hoping the radiant spirit of Diwali will keep hearts hopeful and bright.
