Puneri Paltan pulled off a thrilling double over the Bengal Warriorz, clinching a 49-44 victory in a high-octane Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match at Chennai’s SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium on Tuesday.
Aditya Shinde starred with 18 points, including a Super 10, while Pankaj Mohite added 10 points and his own Super 10 to drive Puneri Paltan to the win. For the Bengal Warriorz, Devank Dalal shone brightly with 25 points, becoming the first player to surpass 150 raid points in PKL season 12.
The game kicked off fast. Aslam Inamdar grabbed the first raid points for Puneri Paltan, and Vishal Bhardwaj sealed it with a tackle on Devank Dalal, giving the season 10 champions an early edge.
Bengal Warriorz hit back quickly. Ashish Malik tackled Aditya Shinde for their first points, and Himanshu Narwal followed with a two-point raid. Pankaj Mohite matched it right away with his own two-pointer. The score sat at 9-7 for Puneri Paltan after the first 10 minutes, but Himanshu and Ashish kept their team close.
Puneri Paltan ramped up the pressure soon after. Abinesh Nadarajan ‘s tackle on Devank triggered the game’s first ALL OUT, opening a five-point lead. Shinde and Mohite landed multi-point raids to stay in control, though Bengal’s captain and Himanshu Narwal fought hard. The first half ended 21-18 in favor of the Ajay Thakur-led Puneri Paltan.
The second half exploded with action. Puneri Paltan notched a Super Tackle on Devank early on. Manprit responded for Bengal with a two-point raid, and Devank built momentum. Aslam Inamdar pulled off a Super Tackle on Devank, but the Bengal captain fired back with an ALL OUT, narrowing the gap to 30-27.
Pankaj Mohite’s Super Raid pushed Puneri Paltan ahead by six again, but Bengal wouldn’t quit. Devank Dalal hit his Super 10, trimming the lead to four points before the final stretch.
With the match on a knife’s edge, Aditya Shinde delivered a game-changing Super Raid to complete his Super 10 and seal pole position for Puneri Paltan. Abinesh Nadarajan ‘s second ALL OUT of the night made it 46-35 with just five minutes left.
Pankaj Mohite wrapped up his Super 10, putting the finishing touches on the win. Devank kept battling with a two-point raid, hitting 20 points for the third time this PKL season. But in this high-scoring thriller, Bengal Warriorz couldn’t close the gap, handing Puneri Paltan the 49-44 triumph.
