Aishanya Dwivedi, the grieving wife of Shubham Dwivedi—a Kanpur businessman killed in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack—has once again urged everyone to boycott the India vs Pakistan cricket match in the Asia Cup. The high-stakes game is set for Sunday, and Aishanya wants fans and citizens alike to skip watching it, even on TV.
Just two months after their wedding, terrorists gunned down Shubham in cold blood on April 22 in Pahalgam, leaving Aishanya heartbroken. Speaking exclusively to , she shared her pain: “This isn’t just my protest. It comes from the 26 families who lost their loved ones in that brutal attack. It’s for every family whose sons and brothers were slaughtered that day.”
This India-Pakistan clash marks their first meeting on the cricket field since the Pahalgam terror attack, which has sparked massive controversy. Opposition parties have slammed the match amid the tense ties between the two nations over the tragedy. While the government has ruled out any direct talks with Pakistan, it greenlit the multi-nation Asia Cup tournament due to certain unavoidable reasons.
Aishanya has been vocal on social media, posting against the game nonstop. “No one has told me I’m wrong so far,” she said. “Everyone supports me, and they’re all boycotting the match too.” She took a sharp dig at the BCCI and Indian players, questioning why they can’t grasp the public’s anger. “If ordinary people get the sentiment, why don’t the BCCI and cricketers? They’ve forgotten how Pakistan-backed terrorists murdered our people and the sacrifices of our soldiers fighting them.”
She added, “No one forced these players to go. They chose to play. They should have stood up against it. It feels like Indian players and BCCI don’t see terrorism as a national crisis. Even Kuldeep Yadav from Kanpur is playing—he could have said no.”
Shubham’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, echoed her sentiments, blasting the BCCI’s decision. “I’ve opposed this India-Pakistan match from the start,” he said. “Our players are facing the country that killed innocent Indians. It’s heartbreaking.” He called for a full boycott, adding, “BCCI doesn’t care about citizens. They shouldn’t have any ties with an enemy nation.”
As the boycott call gains traction, the debate over cricket diplomacy and the Pahalgam terror attack continues to divide opinions ahead of the Asia Cup showdown.
