Pranavi Urs Leads India at Houston Golf Championship
Houston, September 4 – Indian golfer Pranavi Urs is making her mark at the Houston Championship, the fourth event of the PIF Global Series this year. After missing many earlier tournaments due to a wrist injury, Pranavi is eager to bounce back and shine in the second half of the season.
With Diksha Dagar skipping this event at Golfcrest Country Club, India’s other top players in the tournament are rookie Avani Prashanth and experienced golfer Tvesa Malik. The Houston Championship features a tough field of 104 professional golfers competing in both team and individual events.
This tournament has two parts: a 36-hole team competition and a 54-hole individual stroke play. Pranavi, who has won multiple titles on India’s Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, is also aiming for her first win on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She is playing in the team event alongside players from Belgium, Ecuador, and Germany.
Avani Prashanth is teamed up with players from Germany, England, and France, while Tvesa Malik’s team includes golfers from Wales, Germany, and Italy. Overall, 26 teams of four professionals each are battling it out in Houston. The team captains were chosen based on the official Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings as of August 25, 2025.
The selection process was interesting — the captains picked players in reverse order, starting with the lowest-ranked team. Each captain selected one player directly, while the rest were chosen randomly.
Among the participants is Leonie Harm, a Houston native who studied at the University of Houston from 2016 to 2019. She’s especially excited to be back in Houston, where she set many college records. Leonie will be supported on the course by her friend Devaughn Robinson.
