In a thrilling Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Joao Palhinha delivered a dramatic late equalizer to rescue a 1-1 draw for Tottenham against Wolves on Saturday.

Wolves, still searching for their first win this season, seemed set to snatch all three points after Santiago Bueno’s opportunistic goal in the 54th minute. But in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Palhinha unleashed a stunning low shot from 22 yards out, curling it into the far corner to level the score and spark wild celebrations among Spurs fans.

The first half felt like a tense chess match, with Tottenham gradually taking control. Mo Kudus was the star for the hosts, nearly breaking the deadlock early when his header from Xavi Simons’ cross forced an incredible point-blank save from Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone in the 15th minute, the ball looping onto the crossbar.

Kudus thought he’d scored a beauty on 28 minutes, whipping a shot into the far corner after a clever backheel from Lucas Bergvall, but the offside flag cut the joy short. Spurs kept the pressure on—Bergvall unleashed a spectacular flying volley over the bar on 41 minutes, reminiscent of Richarlison’s famous strike against Burnley, while Kudus’ angled effort drew another save from Johnstone. Palhinha even tumbled in the box after pouncing on a rebound, but the ref waved away penalty shouts. Richarlison came agonizingly close too, just missing Kudus’ teasing cross.

Wolves stayed organized and disciplined, limiting their threats to a wayward shot from Jhon Arias and a near-miss in stoppage time. Arias’ corner found ex-Spurs defender Matt Doherty, whose half-volley clipped the crossbar.

The second half flipped the script, with Wolves striking first on a lucky deflection. Guglielmo Vicario parried Ladislav Krejci’s header from a corner, but the ball ricocheted off Palhinha and landed perfectly for Bueno to tap in from close range.

Tottenham huffed and puffed in response but struggled to break through. Vicario made a key save with his feet to deny Hugo Bueno on 74 minutes, while Richarlison headed wide from Pedro Porro’s delivery. Long-range tries from Cristian Romero and Palhinha hinted at Spurs’ frustration—until that fateful moment in added time. Mathys Tel’s cross fell to Pape Matar Sarr, who nudged it to Palhinha, and the midfielder did the rest with his clinical finish.

The point keeps Tottenham in the Premier League hunt, while Wolves head home with something to build on in their winless start.
