Hyderabad Black Hawks pulled off a thrilling 3‑2 victory over Bengaluru Torpedoes in the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) 2025. The match was played at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, and the final score read 13‑15, 15‑10, 18‑16, 14‑16, 15‑11.

Deepu Venugopal was named the standout player of the match. With the win, Hyderabad moved up to fifth place on the standings, collecting nine points after six games.

The game was a rollercoaster from the start. Jalen Penrose lit up the net for Bengaluru, while Matthew West, the team’s captain, relied on him to score. Hyderabad’s Jishnu and Mujeeb delivered crucial blocks early on, but a mistake in Athul’s serve gave the Torpedoes a set advantage.

Joel Benjamin found his rhythm midway, and Sahil’s all‑round effort helped keep the pressure on. The Hawks’ defender Shikhar Singh stepped up the defense, and a daring super serve from Hyderabad eventually led to Niyas blocking Penrose—a moment that thrilled the packed home crowd.

Hyderabad’s Preet Karan also performed well in distribution, sending the ball to the right spots for offense. A misfired shot from Sahil helped Bengaluru get a quick point, but Deepu’s amazing digs made it hard for Penrose to break through.

In the third set, Vitor Yudi Yamamoto’s clean, cross‑body spikes earned the hosts pivotal points. Bengaluru’s West served smartly, giving the Hawks a chance to close the gap, and Jishnu’s super block kept the battle tight.

The decisive fifth set saw Yudi use his power and acrobatic moves to keep Hyderabad ahead. A strong two‑man block line led by Shikhar stopped many of Bengaluru’s attacks, while Sethu’s service error cost the Torpedoes a critical point. The Hawks took the final set 15‑11, sealing a well‑deserved win.

The game showcased strong team play from both sides and kept fans on the edge of their seats until the last point. Hyderabad Black Hawks now head the league table’s fifth spot, while Bengaluru Torpedoes will look to bounce back in their next outing.
