Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma made a special visit to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on Saturday, where he chatted with the country’s Under-19 players and shared tips from his own career. The 37-year-old skipper, known as the "Hitman," opened up about his experiences and life lessons to inspire the next generation of talent.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) highlighted the moment on X, posting: "Inspiring the next gen! Rohit Sharma shared valuable experiences and life lessons with U19 boys at BCCI CoE @ImRo45." You can check out the full post here: https://x.com/BCCI/status/1969375275847651675.
Rohit is already gearing up for India’s upcoming ODI series against Australia, set to kick off in October on foreign soil. This comes after he stepped away from Test cricket in May, just before the team’s ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 tour to England. Over his Test career from 2013 to 2025, Rohit played 67 matches for India, racking up 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57. He smashed 12 centuries and 18 fifties, with his best years as an opener from 2019 to 2024. During that stretch, he topped the ICC WTC run charts for India, scoring 2,716 runs in 40 Tests at an average of 41.15, including nine centuries and eight fifties.
Now, with Virat Kohli by his side—both having retired from T20Is and Tests—Rohit will lead India in a three-match ODI series against Australia starting October 19. Fans are excited to see the duo back in white-ball action.
Rohit remains one of India’s all-time ODI greats. In 273 matches and 265 innings, he’s scored 11,168 runs at an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80. That’s good for 32 centuries and 58 fifties, making him the country’s fourth-highest ODI run-scorer.
He loves playing Down Under, too. Rohit has 1,328 runs from 30 ODIs in Australia at an impressive average of 53.12 and a strike rate above 90. Highlights include five centuries, four fifties, and a top score of 171 not out. Expect some fireworks when India faces the Aussies this time around. ()
