New Delhi, Nov 9 – In a move that could reshape the next season of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are in the final stages of a trade deal. Reports say CSK is offering all‑rounder Ravindra Jadeja to RR in exchange for left‑handed wicketkeeper‑batsman Sanju Samson, a swap that would be huge for both sides.
The two star players are each valued at about Rs 18 crore, and the agreement could be close to finalising. But RR isn’t happy with a straight swap. According to Cricbuzz, the team wants Rohit to bring in an additional player—specifically South African young gun Dewald Brevis—to shore up their squad before the 2026 IPL kicks off.
Brevis, who joined CSK halfway through the previous season as an injury replacement for Gurjit Singh, quickly made his mark. The 21‑year‑old’s rapid rise earned him a record bid at the SA20 auction, and the Pretoria Capitals turned down a final offer from Jo’burg Super Kings, a CSK affiliate, in his favor.
CSK, however, remains firm. Club officials say they see Jadeja’s experience and all‑round skill as invaluable. The 36‑year‑old has been a key part of CSK’s success, famously hitting a match‑winning 10 runs in the 2023 final. Senior players and management have already consulted with Jadeja before striking the trade talks.
If the deal goes through, it will bring a fresh dynamic to the upcoming IPL, with CSK strengthening its batting and bowling balance and RR adding a seasoned all‑rounder and a rising South African star. Keep an eye on the IPL 2026 calendar—last-minute changes could still happen.
