Ranchi, Oct 23 –
The new anthem for the 4th South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships, Jharkhand Bharthey Hunkaar, Johar Johar, is already a hit among athletes and fans in Jharkhand.
The song, written in the native Nagpuri language by famed lyricist Dr. Mranilini Akhouri, captures the excitement of the Games while honoring Jharkhand’s rich culture and traditions.
Popular singers Jyoti Sahu and Rohan Dev bring the melody to life with energetic, earthy vocals that have rallied crowds in stadiums and across town.
The project was overseen by Jharkhand’s Department of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs, ensuring every musical note and visual fits the state’s identity.
A team of experts from Mumbai and Delhi mixed traditional instruments such as the Mandar, flute and Nagada with a modern arrangement that feels global yet rooted in local roots.
The anthem’s music video showcases Jharkhand’s folk dances, tribal art and landmark sites, mixed with footage of athletes competing. The vibrant visuals and strong rhythm highlight the country’s readiness to host top athletes from South Asia.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren praised the anthem on social media, calling it a beautiful reflection of the state’s hospitality and progressive spirit. During practice sessions, athletes from different nations were seen dancing and tapping to the beat, showing how music and sport can cross language barriers.
With its message of unity and pride, Jharkhand Bharthey Hunkaar, Johar Johar has become more than just a chant—it is the voice of Jharkhand’s pride, its cultural richness and its mission to welcome the best athletes in the region.
