Rourkela Steelers won the toss and chose to bowl first, putting pressure on Sambalpur Warriors right away. But openers Aditya Rout and Shreyansh Bhardwaj fired on all cylinders, smashing 120 runs for the first wicket. Aditya smashed a quick 68 off 44 balls before getting out, while Shreyansh made 52 off 40. Subhranshu Senapati then joined the party with a brisk 36 off 20 balls. In the final overs, Prayash Singh stayed unbeaten on 28 off just 13 balls, helping Sambalpur Warriors reach a strong 194/3 in their 20 overs.

The bowlers for Rourkela Steelers fought back, with Jamala Mohapatra taking 1/22, Sambit Baral grabbing 1/44, and Sobhan Dev Behera picking up 1/43. But it wasn’t enough to stop the run flow early on.

Chasing 195, Rourkela Steelers started steadily with openers Sambit Kumar Sahoo (7 off 7) and Saideep Mohapatra (42 off 28). Aashirwad Swain added 26 off 20, keeping the momentum going. Then Sambit Baral turned it on with a fiery 58 off 26 balls, and Binayak Sahoo chipped in with 20 off 14. Despite their efforts, they fell agonizingly short, finishing on 193.

Sambalpur Warriors’ bowlers shone in the death overs. Sumit Sharma took 2/15, Rakesh Pattnaik claimed 2/26, Vimal Kumar grabbed 2/26, and Priyanshu Mohanty starred with 2/12. Their tight lines sealed the thrilling one-run win in this Odisha T20 League opener.

Aditya Rout, named Player of the Match for his explosive knock, shared his thoughts after the game. "T20 matches always come down to the last ball—luckily, we were on the winning side today," he said with a smile. "We made a few mistakes and felt the pressure, but we’ll fix that for the next Odisha T20 League game. The dew under lights made bowling tough in the second innings, but our attack stepped up when it mattered. Winning the first match feels great, and I hope to keep contributing to more victories."

This Odisha T20 League thriller sets the stage for more exciting action—stay tuned for updates on Sambalpur Warriors and Rourkela Steelers!
