India’s U-17 men’s football team delivered a strong 3-0 win over Nepal in the SAFF U-17 Championship 2025 semi-final, securing their spot in the final against Bangladesh. The defending champions showed their class at Colombo’s Racecourse International Stadium, marking their fourth straight victory in the tournament.

Bangladesh earned their final berth earlier with a 2-0 defeat of Pakistan, setting up an exciting title showdown, according to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) website.

The first half ended 0-0, but India controlled the game with smart passing and wide attacks that kept Nepal pinned back. Coach Bibiano Fernandes’ young squad looked mature on the ball, though they struggled to finish chances. Early on, Wangkheirakpam Gunleiba’s shot got blocked in a scramble, and Md Aimaan’s perfect cross found Dallalmuon Gangte, who missed the target.

India’s defense stayed solid, shutting down Nepal’s moves and forcing long shots. Nepal’s Pratis Thapa Magar tested goalkeeper Manashjyoti Baruah with a fierce effort from outside the box, but he saved it comfortably. Right before halftime, Kamgouhao Doungel had a golden chance from a cross but hesitated, letting Nepal clear the danger.

The second half brought the breakthrough in the 61st minute. Denny Singh Wangkhem sent a low pass into the box from the right. Gangte smartly let it run, fooling the defense and keeper, and Gunleiba slotted it home to put India 1-0 up.

Substitute Azlaan Shah Kh added the second goal in the 80th minute during a swift counter-attack. He raced down the left, shook off his marker, and fired a powerful shot into the net.

In stoppage time, Gunleiba’s low cross found fellow sub Diamond Singh Thokchom, who tapped in from close range for the 3-0 final score. The win sparked huge celebrations among the Blue Colts as they gear up for the SAFF U-17 Championship 2025 final.
