India A delivered a stunning performance to crush Australia A by 171 runs in the first unofficial ODI at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium on October 1. The home team smashed a massive 413 for 6—their highest List A total ever at home against Australia A—before restricting the visitors to just 242 in 33.1 overs.
Shreyas Iyer, making a strong comeback to the India A side, led the charge with a brilliant 110 off 83 balls. Priyansh Arya kept pace, firing 101 off 84 deliveries in an explosive display. Their 132-run partnership for the third wicket set the tone for India A’s batting fireworks. Earlier, Priyansh teamed up with opener Prabhsimran Singh for a solid 135-run stand, as Singh scored a quick 56 off 53 balls.
Riyan Parag then accelerated with 67 off 42 balls, and Ayush Badoni blasted 50 off just 27 deliveries to propel the score beyond 400. This total topped India A’s previous best of 371 for 3 against South Africa A in Chennai back in 2015, and it became the highest ever conceded by Australia A in List A cricket.
Australia A started their chase brightly, with Mackenzie Harvey top-scoring on 68 and Lachlan Shaw adding 45. But their middle order fell apart under intense pressure. Nishant Sindhu sparked the collapse with two quick wickets in the 22nd over, ending with impressive figures of 4 for 50. Ravi Bishnoi supported brilliantly, taking 2 for 49 in a sharp spell.
Captain Will Sutherland fought back with a gritty 50 off 33 balls, but it wasn’t enough. India A’s bowlers, including Ayush Badoni, Yudhvir Singh, Gurjapneet Singh, and Simranjeet Singh, grabbed key wickets despite dew and a quick outfield to seal the dominant win.
Brief scores: India A 413/6 in 50 overs (Shreyas Iyer 110, Priyansh Arya 101, Prabhsimran Singh 56, Riyan Parag 67, Ayush Badoni 50; Will Sutherland 2-73, Todd Murphy 1-47) beat Australia A 242 in 33.1 overs (Mackenzie Harvey 68, Will Sutherland 50, Lachlan Shaw 45; Nishant Sindhu 4-50, Ravi Bishnoi 2-49) by 171 runs.
