Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has shared a touching story about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support for the Indian cricket team during tough times and big wins. This comes just ahead of PM Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday.
In a post on his official X handle, Siraj recalled how PM Modi boosted the team’s morale after their heartbreaking loss to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final. India had dominated with a 10-match winning streak, but the defeat stung. “In 2023, after our World Cup loss, Modi ji came to the dressing room & lifted our spirits with his words,” Siraj wrote. “A year later, when we won the T20 World Cup, he called to congratulate us. He stood by us in defeat & in victory—true inspiration. #MyModiStory.”
That emotional visit happened right after the final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. PM Modi, who was there to hand over the trophy to the Australian team, made a special trip to the Indian dressing room. He encouraged the players to shake off the loss, focus on their stellar tournament run, and keep pushing forward.
Fast forward to 2024, and India bounced back strong. The team went undefeated to clinch the T20 World Cup title. PM Modi invited the entire squad to his residence for a chat. They talked about the tournament’s highs and lows, individual player performances, and what it all meant. It was a moment that showed his ongoing connection with the team.
Siraj himself has been shining on the field lately. During India’s recent tour of England, the team drew the five-match Test series 2-2 under captain Shubman Gill. Siraj stole the show as the top wicket-taker with 23 scalps, including two five-wicket hauls and a stunning nine-wicket performance at The Oval in the final Test.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is marking PM Modi’s birthday with a two-week Sewa Pakhwada across India. They’re organizing blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree-planting initiative, and exhibitions showcasing PM Modi’s key achievements. It’s all about giving back and celebrating his leadership.
