Mohali, Oct. 22 – Punjab FC has added a new attacking spark to its lineup by signing Spanish midfielder Dani Ramirez Fernandez. The 33‑year‑old joins the club on a one‑year deal and becomes the team’s second overseas player this season, following the earlier arrival of Samir Zeljkovic.

Ramirez came to Punjab from Manisa FK in Turkey’s TFF First League. Over the past season, he played 34 matches and supplied seven goals and four assists, proving himself a creative midfield force.

A native of Leganés, Spain, Dani began at his hometown club CD Leganés before moving to Real Madrid’s youth system. He later featured for Real Madrid C and then played for Valencia CF B, Getafe CF and Internacional de Madrid in Spain’s lower divisions.

In 2017, Ramirez took his career to Poland, signing with Stomil Olsztyn and later LKS Łódź. He then joined Lech Poznań, where he helped win the Ekstraklasa title in 2021‑22. After a spell with Zulte Waregem in Belgium, he returned to Łódź before moving to Turkey. His experience across Europe gives him a broad playing style and strong tactical awareness.

“Joining Punjab FC feels like the perfect next step,” Ramirez said. “I’m thrilled to start this new chapter and bring my global experience to help the team succeed. The club’s vision inspires me, and I’m ready to dive in, meet the squad, and give everything for the supporters.”

Punjab’s technical director, Nikolaos Topoliatis, highlighted the strategic nature of the recruitment. “We look for players who fit our system and bring professionalism,” he said. “Dani’s track record across multiple countries will boost our performance and help nurture younger talent.”

Ramirez is set to make his debut ahead of the AIFF Super Cup 2025, kicking off on October 25 in Goa. Fans can expect a player with exceptional vision, passing range, and attacking intelligence to play a key role in Punjab’s campaign.
