The Odisha Energy Department said on Thursday that the state will host the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025, a three‑day event from December 5‑7 in the coastal city of Puri.
The announcement came as Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo unwrapped the summit’s logo. The design, which blends nature and technology, signals the theme “Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation.”
GELS will bring together India’s top energy ministers, secretaries, innovators, researchers and industry leaders, plus international counterparts from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Bhutan. The goal is to forge a national dialogue that balances growing energy demand with ecological and economic needs, while pushing forward clean technologies.
Key topics will include small and modular nuclear reactors, green hydrogen, and digital security for power grids. The summit is positioned as a start of a broader pan‑India platform that will connect state energy leaders with national and global experts.
Union Energy Minister Naik said the event will support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a sustainable and net‑zero future by 2070. “Energy sufficiency means not just meeting demand but ensuring reliability and resilience,” he told reporters.
The official website, www.gelsodisha2025.com, was launched along with the logo. Stakeholders now look forward to the summit’s first round of discussions on how India can meet rising energy needs while protecting the environment and accelerating the transition to a cleaner, smarter grid.
