Kolkata – A young man’s body was found in a room on the fifth floor of a hotel in Kasba’s Rajdanga area on Saturday. The discovery has led local police to probe whether foul play was involved or if other circumstances caused the death.
The Kasba police station has launched an investigation. After the hotel alerted them, a forensic team and the dog squad from Kolkata Police arrived, and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rupesh Kumar visited to supervise the initial inquiry.
According to the officers, three guests checked into the room on Friday night. Two of them left late that night and never came back, while the third’s body was later uncovered in the same space.
The deceased is identified as Adarsh Losalka, a 33‑year‑old from Dubrajpur in the Birbhum district. Police have not yet determined when he arrived in Kolkata or whether he has been living there. They are also trying to find out who the other two men were.
Hotel staff are being questioned to gather information captured at check‑in, such as IDs, phone numbers and CCTV recordings. The body has been sent for an autopsy to establish the exact cause and time of death.
A senior officer said, “The body of a youth has been recovered from a hotel in the Kasba area. A case has been registered. Investigation is underway to identify who was with him. The body has been sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.”
The incident follows a month earlier, when the body of a young man named Rahul Lal was discovered in a plastic box bed in a Park Street hotel room, which has again raised concerns about hotel security and guest verification procedures across the city.
