Jamshedpur – The final round of the Tata Open 2025, worth ₹2 crore and the season‑ending event for the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), has seen a tight finish as Shubham Jaglan and Yuvraj Sandhu pushed each other across the Greens at Beldih and Golmuri.
Both players are now locked at 14‑under‑199. Jaglan, just 21 and having turned pro earlier in the year, posted a flawless six‑under‑65 in the third day. The Gurugram native came into the event only his third on the PGTI, following a runner‑up finish on his debut back in Chandigarh. With this score he’s chasing his first tour victory.
Sandhu, who holds a three‑shot advantage coming into round three, shot a three‑under‑68 to tie the leaderboard. The Chandigarh resident has already secured the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit title and, with that achievement, earned a DP World Tour card for next season. He’s now after a record‑setting seventh title in a single season.
Behind the leaders, a trio – Veer Ahlawat (68‑65), Khalin Joshi (68‑67) and N. Thangaraja (68‑68) – are tied for third, 5 shots adrift at nine‑under‑204.
The course format had half the field at Beldih for the first two days, while the other half played at Golmuri. When the final four rounds started, the leaders split their play: front‑nines at Golmuri and back‑nines at Beldih, a combined par of 71.
Jaglan, who began the day in second place, made the most of a strong front‑nine, racking up three birdies and an eagle thanks to successful shots from seven and 15 feet. On the back‑nine he added another birdie on the 12th and two impressive par‑saves, including a 25‑foot rescue that kept his momentum ticking. “I was playing really well on my front‑nine at Golmuri, but the 30‑minute travel from there to Beldih kind of slowed things down for me since I had never before experienced playing a round across two venues so far apart. However, a couple of great par‑saves at Beldih gave me a lot of confidence and helped me get back in my groove. I played in the leader group at a PGTI event for the first time today. Being in the spotlight and being cheered by so many people brings its own pressures, but I feel I handled that pressure well today,” Jaglan said.
Sandhu, meanwhile, collected five birdies but also two bogeys on Saturday’s play, keeping him at the top. “I enjoyed a good start in Golmuri today, but I had a couple of three‑putts in Beldih. However, coming off the course, I feel quite motivated to do well in the final round as it will be the last competitive round of 2025, so I want to give it my best,” he added.
Other notable performances included Manoj S., who hammered a hole‑in‑one on the 17th for a 67 on day three, and tied for sixth with Mohd Azhar and Amardeep Malik. The only Jamshedpur‑based professional to make the cut was Kurush Heerjee, finishing tied 51st at +7.
The race remains close, and the crowd is watching to see if Jaglan can capture his first PGTI title or if Sandhu can cap a monumental season with another victory.
