Travis Head has agreed to stay with the Adelaide Strikers for another year, marking his 14th consecutive season in the Big Bash League (BBL).
The 31‑year‑old left‑hander missed the club’s matches last two seasons because of national duties, but his return kicks off the final stretch of the summer BBL and sets him up as a key player ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup.
If Head remains fit after his recent five Ashes Tests, he could join the Strikers for the last three or four regular‑season games and the finals if the team makes it. He remains one of the most explosive batsmen worldwide, currently the #1 Australian in T20 International rankings and #6 overall.
Head already has BBL bragging rights, smashing an unbeaten 53‑ball century on New Year’s Eve in season 5, with nine sixes—three of them in the final over. He also blasted a 39‑ball century for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“It’s easy to sign on again,” Head said. “Adelaide Oval is the best ground in Australia, the fans are incredible, and we’ve had such great years at the Strikers. I’m looking forward to contributing when I can.”
His latest contract comes after the Strikers also sealed deals with fellow powerhouse Chris Lynn, fast bowler Hasan Ali, and all‑rounder Jamie Overton. Strikers coach Tim Paine welcomed the veteran back, noting Head’s explosive batting, leadership, and experience will lift the squad. Paine added that the club knows Head’s schedule is busy, but the team is eager to have him back after the Ashes.
The roster gains an emerging trio—Liam Scott, Jason Sangha, and Mackenzie Harvey—alongside the new marquee signings, reinforcing the Strikers’ lineup for the upcoming BBL season.
