Zimbabwe Announces 16-Man Squad for T20I Series Against Sri Lanka

Zimbabwe has revealed its team for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka. The matches will take place at Harare Sports Club, starting this Wednesday, with games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. All matches kick off at 1:30 PM local time.

The series follows a tough 2-0 loss in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, where Zimbabwe faced a setback after a five-wicket defeat in the second game. Despite the loss, Zimbabwe remains focused and eager to improve in the T20 format.

Sikandar Raza will lead the Zimbabwe T20 team once again. The team gets a boost with the return of veteran all-rounder Sean Williams, who last played a T20 match against Bangladesh on May 12, 2024. Additionally, experienced wicketkeeper-batter Brendan Taylor makes a comeback to the T20 squad after a long break from this format.

Other players making their return include Brad Evans and Tadiwanashe Marumani. However, some players from the previous tri-series team—such as Newman Nyamhuri, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa, and Tafadzwa Tsiga—are not part of this squad.

This series is an important step for Zimbabwe as they prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, taking place later this month in Harare. Though Zimbabwe didn’t win any matches in the recent T20 Tri-Series against South Africa and New Zealand, they are determined to turn their luck around against Sri Lanka.

Here’s the full Zimbabwe squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka:

– Sikandar Raza (Captain)
– Brian Bennett
– Ryan Burl
– Brad Evans
– Trevor Gwandu
– Clive Madande
– Tinotenda Maposa
– Tadiwanashe Marumani
– Wellington Masakadza
– Tony Munyonga
– Tashinga Musekiwa
– Blessing Muzarabani
– Dion Myers
– Richard Ngarava
– Brendan Taylor
– Sean Williams

Stay tuned as Zimbabwe aims to bounce back and showcase their strength in the shortest cricket format!
