Dubai – The ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings have shifted after the World Cup in India. Smriti Mandhana’s long reign at the top has ended, and South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt is now number one.
Wolvaardt’s form was electric. She hit two centuries in the semi‑final and final, scoring 571 runs – the most ever in a single Women’s World Cup edition. This haul catapulted her rating to 814 and moved her two spots above Mandhana.
Mandhana, who finished the tournament as India’s star and earned a place in the Team of the Tournament, now sits second with 811 rating points. Her strong, match‑winning innings were key to India’s first Women’s World Cup title.
The rankings also saw other big moves. Australia’s Ellyse Perry jumped to joint seventh on 669 points after a 77 in the semi‑final, sharing the spot with New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, who recently retired from ODI cricket.
India celebrated further successes. Jemimah Rodrigues entered the top ten for the first time after a match‑winning hundred against Australia. Young opener Phoebe Litchfield leapt 13 places to 13th (637) after her century in the same game.
In the bowling rankings, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp climbed to 712, almost closing on England’s Sophie Ecclestone for the top spot. Australia’s Annabel Sutherland and Kim Garth each rose one place to sixth and seventh. India’s Shree Charani surged seven spots to 23rd (511) following three key wickets in the knockout stages.
All‑rounder Deepti Sharma continued to rise, moving to fourth (392) in the all‑rounder rankings after seven wickets and 82 runs in the semi‑final and final. South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk also improved, reaching 10th (262) after three wickets in the closing stages.
These updates set the stage for the next era of women’s ODI cricket, with Wolvaardt leading the new top‑six and Mandhana still among the world’s best players.
